Draft Feature Fully Realized!

We have officially released an update to our website that allows users to save drafts of newly created topics before posting the new thread, which wasn't able to be done in our long-time beta of the draft function! You can save a fair number of drafts as well!





We have also added advertisements for games that are releasing on Switch/PS4/PS5 that we think you'd be interested in as well as for games publishers and developers would like us to promote!





We've also added our total number of forum posts and comments to our footer "previously only forum posts were counted", we also fixed our total registered users, and show the number of registered users that have logged in since the first day of the current month in the footer. Also several footer widgets have been added with various information!

And lastly we added more widgets elsewhere on our site, including the Latest Topics widget that now can be used outside of the portal. We also removed our Paper Li widget since the website was discontinued earlier this year. The only other thing of note are the new advertisements near the footer on our forum's main page.

Update: @BlueRangerJack has pitched in so our ad-free weekend is now scheduled to last through October 15th of 2021! Woot!

Original Article: Starting today and lasting through Tuesday, WiiWareWave is going ad-free for both members and guests to make the site even more enjoyable! We will be renewing our demain and forum package on Wednesday at which point we'll drop our ad-free option, unless you guys for some generous reason donate the 2000 or so additional credits we'd need to upgrade to the ad-free package here on our donation page, which of course is completely you, our member's choice!

It's always sad to hear that the Corona Virus pandemic is costing many thousands of lives globally, but when it causes someone whom you know to pass away, it is by far more impactful. That said it pains me to say it, but our longtime moderator, @Clαππαd has passed away today at the age of 29. She and her husband who live in the Cleveland Ohio area noticed that they had both developed symptoms back in early March and both of them eventually were hospitalized in late March along with their then four year old child who has since turned five. Her husband and child both recovered, however she didn't and after a three day medically induced coma she passed away this morning. Natalia Yong a.k.a. @Clαππαd will be missed.

Fresh New Name And Snazzy New Logo Needed!

WiiWareWave is something of an enigma it started off strong and even competed with the likes of Nintendo Life and Nintendo Everything for a good long while, but sadly merely adding Sony coverage to our website wasn't enough to increase activity on our website.

We need to change our name because the Wii moniker is completely irrelevant and doesn't fit our new focus on general gaming rather than focusing solely on Nintendo.

So here's the deal, in just 50 days our domain will expire so we'd like to ask you folks to donate credits to our website so we can purchase a name change and a new domain! We need at least 2000 credits which is roughly $20 USD. Anything raised above that would allow us to disable adsense allowing us to provide safe and relevant ads as well as fewer ads in general on our website.

Also @GeekyGamerZack will "hopefully" be designing our new logo and background image for our website. We'll be holding a contest in September to find the new name for our website.

The new site will go live sometime in late-October. All content and users will be moved over to our new domain, however the site may be down for up to 48 hours during the move, though staff will still be able to access the site, forums, and PM system during this time.

Starting today our staff will resume reviewing games although at a slow rate, after the move we'll try to hire more staff and increase our output of reviews and other content.

3DS Owners Rejoice!

WiiWareWave's webhost, Forumotion has upgraded our forum version from PunBB to ModernBB a much more sleek and mobile friendly software, however with this comes incompatibility issues with many of our features. Also since the software is in Beta there are plenty of visual bugs, but our webhost should squash those relatively soon!

There is a fantastic positive to this update in the fact that most if not all of our features should now work on mobile devices and yes, even the 3DS browser which we're hearing can even run the live chat feature which was never possible before!

We'll try to work with our webhost to fix any visual issues and other bugs, but in the meantime be sure to let us know what you think in our comment section below, however keep in mind that our staff had nothing to do with the update.

We have finally managed to fix our administration panel and the mobile version of our website in the past week, there's still a ton more fixes that need to be made before we can operate normally again, but we're hopeful that our site will be running normally again before the end of the year! We're so very sorry to you our loyal fans and the game developers that have been affected by these issues. Once we do have everything fixed we'll be reporting several news stories per day and will try to get at least 4-5 reviews published per week so we can get back on-track.

WiiWareWave started back on March 14th 2011, and was setup by @Sneaker, @Ichigofan and @Cloud_Strife and was opened to the public on March 16th of 2011. WiiWareWave has since flourished into a website with tens of thousands of visitors per day. Our member-base might be small, but they are among the kindest fans a website could ever hope to have! Today we're rolling out, yet another major website update! This update adds features that are not only convenient, but should save you a bunch of your spare time as well while browsing our website! The new features affect the desktop version of our website!

Here's the list of new features:

★ A new quick login feature has been added to our toolbar so when you aren't logged in you can quickly sign-in without the page refreshing!

★ There's a new tab on the right-hand side of every page, click that and our chatbox will instantly slide out for quick viewing of the feature!

★ A new popup tab appears when you click on specific notifications that allows you to view the notification in it's entirety without changing pages! This should save you a ton of time sifting through your notifications!

★ Our advanced preview feature has been changed to match our notifications popup tab to add a more uniform look to our website!

We've been updating our website frequently over the course of the past month adding tons of new content and features for you, our loyal members and now we've added some nice changes for our crew.

Here's the new features! The first of which actually improves the look of our blog entries so it affects standard members in a somewhat positive way:

★ We've changed our hashtag system into stylish metatags to improve the look of our blog entries!

★ We've now added quick moderation tools to our sub-forums. These'll allow moderators to effectively and quickly moderate topics without even opening the thread. We haven't fully translated it into english yet, but it does work and the areas that haven't been translated yet are self explanatory.

Whether you love them, or hate them, or love to hate them, these are our top 5 picks for the most memorable antagonists from the entire Xeno franchise! Do be warned, however that several major spoilers are revealed in this article so use caution when reading our list if you haven't played all of the Xeno games yet.

#5: Id

Id is an alternate personality of the main protagonist of Xenogears, Fei Fong Wong and is incredibly evil and violent, unlike his kind counterpart Fei. When Id takes over Fei his eyes, hair, and skin color completely change. This transformation occurs several times throughout the story and sometimes creates chain reactions so terrible that many innocents perish at his hands, because of his unpredictable appearances and horrificly atrocious bouts of violence we feel that Id deserves a spot on our list!

#4: Myyah Hawwa

Basically an entity who has lived for many millenia by snatching other people's bodies and using them as her host vessel, she is a very evil and sadistic character in Xenogears who was responsible for the collapse of many civilizations throughout her existence. She is a very manipulative being who pulls many strings to get what she wants. She even took over Fei Fong Wong's mother, Karen Wong, however Karen Managed to overpower her in order to save her son, however in doing so she paid the ultimate price.

Myyah Hawwa's manipulative personality and the fact that she's literally responsible for the deaths of billions of people is why she was chosen as the fourth most memorable character in our list of the most memorable antagonists in the Xeno series!

#3: Albedo Piazzolla

An artificially created life form and major antagonist in Xenosaga Albedo is the twin brother of Jr. and is an immortal. He enjoys the pain, suffering, and deaths of humans and blames them for his misery of being unable to die. He has destroyed human colonies and towns and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. He even despises his own kind for siding with the humans and envies their lack of immortality.

Albedo's frightening nature and the fact that he cannot die is why he was chosen as the third most memorable character in our list!

#2: Dickson

Dickson is seen as a protagonist during the first two thirds of Xenoblade Chronicles' story, however after Shulk manages to strike a truce between his people and the leader of Mechonis, Dickson betrays him a shoots him in the back, allowing the god of the Bionis, Zanza who possessed Shulk during the group's first visit to Prison Island, unbeknownst to Shulk or anyone else besides Dickson, to emerge.

He later reveals himself as one of Zanza's deciples, and eventually faces off against Shulk, Fiora, and the rest of the group when they revisit Prison Island and when Shulk fatally wounds him he seems rather proud of the fact that Shulk overcame the challenge and surpassed him. His not-so-evil nature at the end of his life is one of the biggest reasons why we chose Dickson as number two in our list of most memorable antagonists in the Xeno series!

#1: Zanza

Originally a scientist on a space colony orbiting Earth, Zanza started an experiment that destroyed the entire universe! He and his scientific colleague Mayneth were the sole survivors and were reborn as gods in this newly created reality. Originally kind-hearted, he eventually became twisted and began to fear the Homs, and his other creations and so he decided to create a cycle of destruction for those who lived on Bionis "himself".

He later possesses Shulk and even kills Mayneth and the entirety of the Mechonis. He tries to entice Shulk to become his deciple, but Shulk refuses and eventually kills him. The fact that he destoyed the entire universe and kept killing the entirety of the Bionis population time and again is why Zanza was the clear choice to be number one on our most memorable antagonists in the Xeno series list!

A Whole New Website?

Most of you are likely noticing that I've been pretty much the only staff member writing news stories lately due to most of the other staff members leaving or becoming too busy to write articles with the except for our European reviewer @SKTTR. So the question is, should I shift focus to exclusive content or continue doing a combination of news articles and exclusive features?

The fact of the matter is that if I continue to focus on news articles, I'll constantly fall behind on reviews and it'll not only slow our exclusive content down to a trickle but will also hurt the developers who send us review codes by making us unable to publish the reviews right at or immediately after the launch of the games.

Note that this would only last as long as it takes us to find a dedicated news anchor for our website and also wouldn't affect any news stories that the game developers actually reveal to us specifically on Twitter or our contact form. Also a few key articles such as My Nintendo details and hardware reveals etc. would still be published, but most software related news that isn't brought to our attention by developers or via. news tips will likely go unpublished in this scenario.

Reviews on the other hand would likely increase to 4-5 a week just from myself along with 1-2 developer's interviews per week, and 3-4 other exclusive features a week.

A Major Overhaul For You!

Our big 9.0.0 website update that we've been clamouring about for weeks is now live and there are some absolutely huge changes that have occurred as a result of our update. The most noteworthy change is to the mobile version of our website, but there's also plenty of new features in our desktop version as well!

Here's a rundown of all of the new features:

New Features For Our Mobile Website:

★ Our mobile website now has a completely new theme with a host of new features! The mobile version has almost every feature the desktop version possesses!

★ An indicator of which threads you have posted in is now available in the mobile version of our website!

★ User avatars and signatures are now visible on our mobile website!

★ Our mobile search feature is no longer in beta and is now fully functional!

New Features For Our Desktop Website:

★ Our staff badges are now live and are shown at the bottom left corner of a staff member's avatar!

★ We've dropped our banner rank system and streamlined our usergroup system to improve the look of our website and to improve its performance!

★ We've added pagination to PM messages so you can view the previous PM or the next PM on your list!

★ We've added a new reputation system! You can earn up to 20 green bars next to your username! The more bars you have, the better your reputation! You can earn reputation from people liking or thanking your posts and from simply posting new topics or replying to existing ones! So be sure to post alot as well as thanking helpful posts and liking posts that you like!

★ An improved tagging system has been added! If someone is tagged e.g. @Ichigofan you can place your cursor or stylus over the tagged username to bring up a neat popup with user profile options!

★ We've added a new watched tags feature so you can easily keep track of the various hashtags that we use for articles! You'll be notified of any new instances of a hashtag and will be able to quickly view any recent instances of the hashtag! You can use this feature via your user profile, just go to edit your profile and click the tab that says Tags and input the #hashtag in the search box and click the button that says follow a new tag!

★ We've also changed the permissions of #hashtags so only staff members can use the feature. We'll be continuing to use #hashtags as keywords/metatags for our blog articles. @Usertags are unaffected by this change!

★ We've changed the template of our website to make our background image more visible!

★ We've finished our new Wii U Virtual Console reviews hub and it can be accessed from our navigation menu!

Upcoming Features:

★ In our upcoming version 9.1.0 update we'll be styling hashtags into unique metatag buttons to give our blog articles an extra touch of pizazz!

★ We'll also try to add the national flags from user profiles into blog posts as well!

★ We'll also be adding more review hub sections in future updates!

We've been extremely busy with updating WiiWareWave with fantastic new features leading up to our big 9.0.0 update that'll go live just in time for our website's 5th anniversary! Here's a rundown of the changes that have been implemented:

New Features:

We've now improved our mobile website even further with a new search feature! Members and guests previously couldn't use the search feature in the mobile version of our website, but we've added a beta search feature to it! This is a bit buggy at the moment and the search results only show results for what words you typed in the same order from beginning to end of your search terms, so our advice to you would be to search using common keywords we use in blog entries such as Review: , Developer's Interview: , eShop: , Virtual Console: Nintendo Network: ,  Breaking News: , etc. for your search terms until we find a solution to the issue.

Partially Added New Features:

The second phase of our mentioning button feature has now been implemented! You'll see an @ symbol next to user profiles in forum posts and blog article author's posts that will easily allow you to mention those members. We'll be wrapping this feature into the currently unused mention button next to the quote button in the very near future!

Two sections of our new simplified review hubs have been finished! These two sections are the Wii U (Retail) hub and the Wii U (eShop) hub! You can now view them as you normally would from our navigation menu at the top of our website, just choose reviews and choose Wii U or Wii U eShop in the drop-down sub-menu! We will be adding the other review hub sections to the menu over the upcoming weeks as well as changing the aesthetics of the pages if at all possible "no promises though!"

Just when you think that we're done updating our website, we roll out yet another site update! Our latest update adds a ton of new features and gives the mobile version of our website a welcome boost in functionality! Here's a rundown of all of the new features that have been added to our website:

@Mentioning tool has been added to our text editor, just choose the @symbol to utilize the function's many features including quickly mentioning anyone on your friends list!

New Mobile Website Functionality:

Images now appear in articles and forum threads instead of being merely a link to the images!

Possibly the most spectacular new feature of our version 8.3.0 update is that you can now quote, edit, and delete messages in the mobile version of our website!

Aesthetic Changes:

We've now added a badge to our administration staff's avatars this will be added to more types of staff members soon and will be repositioned to fit inside the bottom-right corner of the avatar's of our crew members!

We changed the way that thanked posts look, instead of changing the background color of the thanked user's post we've added a message/image in the bottom-right corner of the message block for that post!

The third of our website updates that we reported would be occurring in the near future has now gone live! This update is chalk full of bug fixes and new features and visuals!

Bug Fixes:

We fixed the bug with our delete button in the topics so now it brings up a message asking if you're sure that you want to delete it rather than instantly deleting the thread!

New Features:

There's now a Text Editor resizer in our quick reply box and our advanced editor that allows you to resize the editor to full-screen mode!

There's also a new quick editor feature that allows you to quickly edit your posts without changing the page or refreshing it! This new feature automatically activates when you normally update your posts, however slow internet connection can cause the feature to fail and the standard post editor will open in that case.

Graphical Changes:

Perhaps the most noteworthy change is our new porthole-style avatars in our forums and blogs, which add a nice touch to our nautical theme!

We recently stated in our overview article of our version 8 website update that more new features were on the way and we're excited to announce the two new features that have been added to WiiWareWave as of today's version 8.1.0 update! The first of the new features will be very useful mainly to us staff members, but some members might get some use out of it as well.

This new feature is an indicator showing the character limit and remaining characters that you can use in your posts, comments, and when editing your profile signature!

The second feature is far more game-changing! You now can post messages in real-time using our quick reply box in our forums and blogs. This will add your message without refreshing the page, and should also allow you to read new comments as they're made in our forums and blogs without having to refresh the page! This feature is in beta so keep in mind there might be some issues with it.

Major Changes Big & Small!

WiiWareWave has changed alot over the years, some changes have been bigger than others. Today's update is definitely one of our bigger updates in the past year with a few great new features as well as an aesthetic overhaul with new colors and fonts throughout our website!

The most notable change is to our toolbar at the top of most pages, it is no longer glued to the top of the page, this was done as a work-around to an issue that our update caused. In the right side of the toolbar there's a new option called CB with a number after it. This is a new chatbox indicator that shows the total number of users in the chatbox and when you click the text a mini-chatbox will come down. It's not usable in it's current form, but it shows the online users and has a link to the full-page version of the chatbox so you can jump right in if you see someone is in the chatbox! The user counter updates upon page change and sounds have been added to our notification system, but they only play if you use an up-to-date version of Chrome or Firefox!

This feature is in beta so there could be other issues with it so be sure to report any problems so we can fix them!

Another major feature that we changed up a bit is the like system, the old one was broken so we added a new one. Click the green arrow in the bottom right side of forum posts, articles, and blog comments to upvote a post. Liking posts pays too as every legitimate like will earn members 3-5 WiiWareWave Coins for our forum shop!

We also altered our quick reply box in the forums and blogs to display your avatar as an added aesthetic touch! We also changed our background back to the "Classic WiiWareWave" one, for now.

That's not all! We completely revamped our site's color-scheme and fonts to make things easier to read!

More changes are in the pipeline including new online indicators for profiles, ditching the ranking system and adding staff badges "to substantially boost loading times" and Round "porthole" style avatars!

Update: The mini chatbox does indeed work, but only if there are messages in the chatbox at the time, otherwise the text editor won't appear.
