We are celebrating our 10th anniversary in style! We have renewed our domain for another year as well as keeping our site ad-free for another 12 months! We've also added a plethora of new features and quality of life changes over the past few months! Here are the changes:

Topic Body Changes:

1: Our forum and blog posts now list all members who have contributed to the topic or article at the top of the page!

Changes To Our PM System:

1: The PMs are now grouped by subject: to keep the discussion thread between the same members and with the same subject title.

2: You can now consult the history of the discussion beyond the first 7 messages: pagination has been added to go back as far as necessary in the discussion.

3: A small icon now indicates which messages you have already replied to.

4: The message being viewed is clearly indicated in the history (you will stop wondering why their message appears twice!)

Quality of Life Changes:

1: Signatures now have a 2048 character limit instead of a 1000 character limit to allow for more complex image signatures. Full 2048 character text signatures will likely be blocked except in cases of cool Ascii Art.

2: Poll options have been increased to 100 max choices per poll, for things like character contests and more!

Update: @BlueRangerJack has pitched in so our ad-free weekend is now scheduled to last through October 15th of 2021! Woot!

Original Article: Starting today and lasting through Tuesday, WiiWareWave is going ad-free for both members and guests to make the site even more enjoyable! We will be renewing our demain and forum package on Wednesday at which point we'll drop our ad-free option, unless you guys for some generous reason donate the 2000 or so additional credits we'd need to upgrade to the ad-free package here on our donation page, which of course is completely you, our member's choice!

Welcome to our monthly forecast so-to-speak. In this new series of articles we'll reveal upcoming reviews, features, events, and contests for the current month. This month's article is quite late, however future articles in this series will go live in the first week of every month! Without further ado, here's what you can look forward to for the remainder of this month!

As far as reviews go we'll be reviewing The Liar Princess And The Blind Prince (PS4), Death End Re;Quest (PS4), Song of Memories (PS4), Jump Force (PS4), The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (Wii U VC), Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee (Switch) and maybe a surprise or two.

As for exclusive features we'll be publishing an exclusive feature listing our top 3 favorite dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past!

As for the happenings of our website, we're currently gearing up for our website's eighth anniversary which is on the 11th of March!

We have some unfortunate news for you guys. Our website has qualified for free domain renewal from our forum host at the last moment and we can't opt out and change our website's domain name, so we're stuck with the current community name and domain for at least another year. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Our New Name Has Been Decided!

Earlier this month we asked you, our loyal members what you wanted us to name our website now that we've become an all-encompassing video games press website and a good deal of you voted for TheGamerResort. We then sent a newsletter poll to the members who didn't participate in the preliminaries and out of 225 votes 198 were in favor of renaming WiiWareWave, TheGamerResort! So we've heard your opinions and have decided to go with TheGamerResort as our new community name! So in less than a month "we'll let you know the exact day at least two weeks in advance", our new domain will be http://www.TheGamerResort.com

@GeekyGamerZack @KingreX32 We need a banner ready within the next 10-15 days and if you can't get access to a laptop even a simple temporary banner created and uploaded from your mobile device would be a good short-term solution!

Starting today we'll be publishing our Weekly Flash-forward article where we'll talk about upcoming reviews, news regarding site updates, and exclusive features. This article will only talk about things that will be happening in the future so there's no need to worry that this will replace site related news articles.

Okay, so we've finally finished the repairs and cleanup of our HQ in the aftermath of the flood that ravaged our area. Our review of God Wars: Future Past (Vita) will go live on Friday, followed up by our review of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild (Wii U) on Monday, and lastly our review of Bodycheck (Vita PSN) will go live later next week!

We also received a review code for Ys VIII: The Lacrimosa of DANA (Vita) so expect a review of that in the upcoming weeks alongside our review of Earthlock: Festival of Magic (Wii U) which we've been promised a review code for! Earthlock was released on Wii U in Europe last week and will release in North America this Thursday on the eShop!

Our name-change idea article is nearing the deadline and it's looking like TheGamerResort will be the forerunner going into our upcoming poll. @KokorOtaku also suggested TheGamerResort so it's got a commanding lead.

Fresh New Name And Snazzy New Logo Needed!

WiiWareWave is something of an enigma it started off strong and even competed with the likes of Nintendo Life and Nintendo Everything for a good long while, but sadly merely adding Sony coverage to our website wasn't enough to increase activity on our website.

We need to change our name because the Wii moniker is completely irrelevant and doesn't fit our new focus on general gaming rather than focusing solely on Nintendo.

So here's the deal, in just 50 days our domain will expire so we'd like to ask you folks to donate credits to our website so we can purchase a name change and a new domain! We need at least 2000 credits which is roughly $20 USD. Anything raised above that would allow us to disable adsense allowing us to provide safe and relevant ads as well as fewer ads in general on our website.

Also @GeekyGamerZack will "hopefully" be designing our new logo and background image for our website. We'll be holding a contest in September to find the new name for our website.

The new site will go live sometime in late-October. All content and users will be moved over to our new domain, however the site may be down for up to 48 hours during the move, though staff will still be able to access the site, forums, and PM system during this time.

Starting today our staff will resume reviewing games although at a slow rate, after the move we'll try to hire more staff and increase our output of reviews and other content.

WiiWareWave started back on March 14th 2011, and was setup by @Sneaker, @Ichigofan and @Cloud_Strife and was opened to the public on March 16th of 2011. WiiWareWave has since flourished into a website with tens of thousands of visitors per day. Our member-base might be small, but they are among the kindest fans a website could ever hope to have! We really appreciate you guys and gals who have continued to support us over the past five years! The third of our website updates that we reported would be occurring in the near future has now gone live! This update is chalk full of bug fixes and new features and visuals!

Bug Fixes:

We fixed the bug with our delete button in the topics so now it brings up a message asking if you're sure that you want to delete it rather than instantly deleting the thread!

New Features:

There's now a Text Editor resizer in our quick reply box and our advanced editor that allows you to resize the editor to full-screen mode!

There's also a new quick editor feature that allows you to quickly edit your posts without changing the page or refreshing it! This new feature automatically activates when you normally update your posts, however slow internet connection can cause the feature to fail and the standard post editor will open in that case.

Graphical Changes:

Perhaps the most noteworthy change is our new porthole-style avatars in our forums and blogs, which add a nice touch to our nautical theme!
