Is Ninja Gaiden II (NES) worth your time and money? Let's find out!

Story and Gameplay:

The story in Ninja Gaiden II is very dark and surprisingly detailed for a 1980's sidescrolling action game, but what is truly amazing is the level of difficulty this game possesses!
First of all there are no game overs, but the game is still a tough game to beat thanks to hordes of enemies and devious platforming layouts that will test your skills and patience.

The bosses start off easy, but later in the game they are brutally difficult to beat. The game is a little easier to beat in the Virtual Console version thanks to the suspend save feature!
The game also features power-ups and weapons such as shadow clones, shuriken, and Ninpo which will help you when you're cornered by enemies!

Graphics and Sounds:

The level of detail in the levels is amazing for a game on the Nintendo Entertainment System with lightning lighting up an otherwise pitch black level, embers raining down from the sky, and many other details truly show off the power of the NES!
The most impressive visual detail in this game, however is during the hand-drawn fmv clips during the story sequences which look like they belong on a 16-bit console!

The soundtrack is good, but when compared to the visuals it isn't as jawdropping and the sound effects are typical NES fare.

Ninja Gaiden II (NES) Review Ninja-10

Bottom Line:

With a surprisingly detailed story, solid gameplay, and amazing visuals for a game released at the time this game is an amazing title, however the blistering difficulty might be a turn off for some gamers.

Price: 500 Nintendo Points

Score: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 9/10

This sounds like a job for... KingreX32!!!

FM_Alchemist, I'd go with Super C first, if you don't have either of them yet. Just because it feels more like an essential NES VC purchase, in my opinion.
