Fifa and Madden 13 WiiU Bound Fifa13WiiUPad

This bit of News comes as no surprise as sports games are usually multiplatform and are released every year. Every console you can think of has at least five sports titles you can think of. What makes this news different is that these are the first Sports titles we are hearing of on the WiiU.

The big news this week is that EA has reveled that both Madden and Fifa 13 for the WiiU Console and that they will be launch titles. In an Official Press Release EA detailed many features for both games. In Fifa 13 some features of the WiiU version include:

-Using the touchscreen for passing the ball, enabling longer passes and more control.

-Also using the touch screen players will be able to precisely aim their shots by tapping on where to shoot the ball.

-The GamePad screen will also be used for penalty shots, allowing players using the controller as their view for aiming, then applying spin to the shot using the touchscreen.

-The Wii U version will also feature an enhanced manager hub, enabling users to tap on any player to view their statistical analysis. Team tactics can also be adjusted using the touchscreen.

-Touch screen controls can be used to change tactics, formations or subs on the fly

-A Team Management Control feature with interactive radar to send players on supporting runs, attacking or defensive.

-Online allows you to see your friends online and invite them to play, or message them in real time using a keyboard on the touch screen.

Fifa 13 is Being Developed by EA Canada.

Madden 13 was shown at EA’s Summer Showcase Event and is being Developed by EA Tiburon. Features for the WiiU version include:

-The touchscreen allows players to streamline play calling, make pre-snap adjustments, and manage team personnel.

-The WiiU version features the ability to draw plays and player paths using the touch screen

-The Connected Careers mode will also make its way to Wii U, along with CBS commentary team Jim Nantz and Phil Simms.

While commenting on the games, Andrew Wilson head of EA Sports, had this to say:

"We challenged our teams to develop innovations designed specifically for the Wii U, and to create new ways to play that would bring players of all abilities together," "Our teams have truly delivered creative new football experiences with FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 for the Wii U."

Despite this we are also hearing some reports that the WiiU version for Madden 13 is missing a lot of features found in the PS3 and Xbox360 versions of the game. Missing features include The Infinity Engine (A real time Collision and Movement system from Madden 12), Madden Ultimate Team (an Online mode that lets layers create teams using digital trading cards) and Online Team Play (Online Team Plays allows players to take part in three on three co-op games)

Game Producer Yuri Bialoskursky stated

"We definitely wanted to get the physics into the game but it's just something we weren't able to achieve for this first year on the new hardware."

He also stated that Maddens missing features are others the company wants to add in as they go.

I’m No fan of Sports games, but Fifa and Madden 13 on WiiU are looking and Sounding Really Really good. I love the way the EA is utilizing the Gamepad controller. I look forward to see these games in Action. Fifa 13 hits stores on September 25th 2012 and Madden 13 August 28th. As Nintendo has yet to announce a release date, there is no word on when the WiiU versions will be released.

The Wii U is starting to look alot like the PS3 in terms of software, too many adult oriented games and sports games with a few excellent first party games, but not much of anything else, hopefully things will change once the Wii U has a chance to showcase what it's capable of doing. Wink

Indeed. Although kinda small the WiiUs Launch Line up is actually very good. We are going to be getting alot of good games.

I agree that the WiiU has a superb launch lineup, however the Nintendo WiiU will wind up in the same situation as the PS3 if they don't release enough games of every popular genre and for every age group.

Nintendo needs to realise that they might be pleasing their largest demographic, but they would still alienate at least 40% of their fanbase by not releasing enough RPG's, platformers, and adventure games akin to Zelda and that means they must do a better job localising Japanese games in western nations.

Like I said before. A consoles hardest yearis always its fist. We can pass judgment just yet. This thing hasnt even come out yet.

And Im sure Nintendo has got other project they havent announced yet. We just jhave to be patient.

I don't get how they couldn't have ported some new engine they were talking about to WiiU...

The console doesn't come out until November. EA's team had plenty of time with the hardware as well. That rumor about Nintendo and EA's little dispute is sounding to be true.

Anyways, good for the sports fans. It's been more than 10 years since I last picked up a sports game willingly. I don't play such games unless it has Mario or it's some crazy arcade game like NBA Jam.

That's what I say all the time. Which is why I prefer unrealistic sports games... You can't push people into electric fences or blow them up with bombs IRL.. Maybe you can but that wouldn't be right.

Tennis/Basketball IRL >>>>>>>> Tennis/BasketBall Game
