Does anyone have screenshots or the trailer for NSMB2?

What do you think Nintendo will do differently in the third NSMB game?
Will this be another retro throwback title or do you think that Nintendo will mix things up this time around?

While I wasn't impress on the first New Super Mario Bros, I hope the "sequel" is more than meets the mustache at E3.

I think what will keep the game fresh is the street pass option. Coin rush I believe its called! Otherwise it looks to be pretty much the same as the first which isn't a bad thing!

Its a random 3 couse mode where you have to collect the most ammount of coins you can. Check the eshop there is a video on it. Then you can see through street pass a friends best total.

This game is going to be so much fun.

I look forward to this game (as with every Mario platformer). So I hope it will be good and the coins and stuff won't come in the way of a good fun platformer.

Will there be a retail game card version of this game? My 3DS can't get online using my router and I don't go out often so streetpass is pretty much useless to me.

No way in the world would Nintendo make this digital only. Unless they launched a massive campaign on TV to announce it. So you're safe for another I would say 5-10 years!

Of course there will be a retail version. Nintendo would be incredibly stupid not to release it's biggest player in card form.

Is that a combination of a tanooki suit and a fire flower power up in the picture above my post?

That is what I was thinking.

Will the white tanooki suit have any special powers, besides normal tanooki suit abilities?

It looks like the white tanooki suit grants invincibility to your character.

The white Tanooki is only if you die a ton and decide to use it by the looks of it

The White Tanooki is a "controllable" Super Guide, no harm for Mario except falling on pit or lava.

Surprisingly, the game takes approximately 2,950 blocks if you download it.

I assume that the rest of the cartridge space is filled with gold

I am going to be getting a physical copy. The 50 extra coins is nice but I tend to share my 3DS games with my son and I don't want to have to give up my 3DS just so he can play NSMB2. Also I don't need it taking up all the space on my SD card thats for VC and DSiware.

It looks like there will be over 100 levels in the base game and possibly more through dlc.

Do you think Nintendo might add a level creator as dlc?

This will be a Day One download for me. No more bashing 10 year old kids out of the way in the line ups at the local game store!

I hope this becomes downloadable on that Sunday. Going down to visit my sister for my niece's birthday and this would be neat to have with me. And my 3DS XL gets shipped 3 days later

Well I made it to the third world and I have to say that this game is alot better than I thought but maybes thats cause I had low expectations. For those that say its just rehash and its just like NSMB and Mario games need to be more original blah blah blah honestly that can be said about any game that has a series, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Halo, GTA etc etc etc. So I dont know why all the hate for Mario games not adding anything new.

Now that that is outta my system I will say that while granted the number of extra lives is a bit extreme (I believe I have 50 something and I am in world 3) but I kinda expected that due to all the coins but the addition of grabbing all the coins is a neat little twist that breathed a bit of fresh air into this series. (BTW has anyone figured out why Mario needs all these coins? Is he saving up for some ultra expensive mustache wax or something?) Also I have to say that I like what they did for the battles with the Kooplings. I was excited to see the return of the Kooplings in SM3DL but then when I had to fight them I was disappointed cause their tactics seemed to just be the same ones in SMB3 and SMW. The graphics have that Mario charm that I expect from a Mario game and the return of the raccoon suit was a great blast from the past. Level design is great as well there are alot of different paths in levels and secrets to find.

Anyway I am going to stop so this doesn't sound like a review (my apologies if this sounds like a review). I find this game alot better than NSMBW for some reason I was disappointed with NSMBW I cant put my finger on why but I just was. But as far as this game goes I am very pleased with it.

The point is that while this is a good game, and good enough to sell many copies - it's just that. Nintendo didnt put much effort into this game and until now most Mario games have been new in some way. Super Mario 3D Land felt somewhat soulless compared to other Mario games, but at least they tried something new with it.

This game uses very similar graphics to the DS/Wii versions, uses the same music, uses little 3D effect, has forgettable levels, a broken lives system kept in for the sake of consistency (All they needed to do was take out the 100 coins = 1 life rule for the first time), loses the minigames and custom multiplayer levels from the DS version, and overall just feels like a cheap cash-in to sell 3DS systems.

The game will be successful of course - but if this continues it will get to the point where people start to really question whether to buy the next Mario game. Until now I've never had to think about it - each game warranted the purchase, but now Nintendo are just walking out onto thin ice...

I think New Super Mario Bros U will be more original but as I said alot of games do that. I mean take Call of Duty for example its the same thing over and over and over nothing original there you play one C.O.D. game you play them all yet people still line up to get them, or even the GTA games. Its not so much the game companies but the consumers. For some reason today's consumers are content with things that don't have too many changes to them. Why that is I have no idea but that just seems like the trend.

As for me maybe the reason I am liking this game a lot is cause I have never played NSMB on the DS due to the fact that when it came out I didn't have much money to buy DS games and as for NSMBW I played it a bit but I just wasn't that impressed with it and I tried really hard to like that one. Yes the music is recycled and as the 3D effect goes its not a big issue with me since I dont play games in 3D.

Oh and as for a cheap cash in to sell systems no argument there, but than again the same can be said about Super Mario Bros for the NES, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Genesis, Super Mario World for the SNES or any other game that came as a pack in game with the system or even a launch game. Personally I think bring out NSMB2 as a launch title for the 3DSXL was brilliant now if only they did that with SM3DL when the original 3DS came out. But its nice to see that they learned from their mistakes.

Depends, the normal story is REALLLY short, but finding all exits and secrets is longer, plus coin rush mode and the million coin objective

I meant that it's a cheap cash-in to sell the system because it uses so many elements from NSMB and Super Mario 3D Land, while only introducing a few.

Super Mario Bros for the NES, Super Mario World, and many other mario games have been made from scratch and are all memorable and individual. Not since the New Super Mario Bros series has this happened with Mario. (The only other exception possibly being SMG2 - but that game improved a lot over the original, and added more than we're seeing here.)

I don't like how you're saying it's a "cheap cash-in" for Nintendo. It may be true, though I didn't buy a new 3DS because of this game, but Nintendo needs a way to attract more people to their 3DS line anyways. Even though the game uses the same formula as the previous two games, is there anything wrong with that? I know, you're all going to start piling on the CoD on me now, right? Good games don't necessarily have to introduce a plethora of new elements to be considered "great" to a Nintendo standard. I personally was very surprised with how good this game turned out to be. The graphics are amazing on the 3DS and the level designs are pretty good too.
